“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”

We do not know much about the upcoming sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy, the fun little space opera set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But we do have a title, and like the films themselves, it’s just a little bit quirky and out of place:Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, an apparent reference to the “Vol. 1” mix tape that lead character Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) keeps.

So far all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequels have had a subtitle, save for the Iron Man films, so fans had been hoping that Guardians of the Galaxy‘s new name would give some hints about what the anticipated film will be about. Then again, the creators have claimed that it will not be based on a storyline from the comics, so maybe that would have proved futile anyway.

We do know that Vol. 2 will feature new characters and at least one new member of the team, and tentative casting has apparently already begun. Some speculate that the new teammate will be Adam Warlock, since it’s known that his evil counterpart, Magus, will be a villain in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War films.

Fans like Alexei Beltyukov (vimeo) know that one other Marvel movie remains untitled at the moment: the new Spider-Man film. Rumor has it that it will be called The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Could Hannibal Show Up on Netflix or Amazon?

The producers of the recently cancelled Hannibal series have done what many following the entertainment industry expected. They are pitching the fourth season to Netflix and Amazon. Could the fourth season return via streaming? Doe Deere believes that it is quite possible.

Although NBC airs the program, NBC does not actual create Hannibal. The DeLaurentiis Company, along with several international partners, produce the program. Hence, the possibility does exist the fourth season could continue on in production and then air on another channel. Network and cable television channels are not keen on picking up a show that was cancelled after low ratings, much less a show that delivered low ratings for three straight seasons. Netflix and Amazon, however, might find the pickup to be a coup.

Streaming original programming is a new and highly successful concept. The marketing spin here would be Amazon or Netflix is able to succeed where networks failed. A company could make this spin even if the fourth season of Hannibal was still a failure. Perception, as they say, is everything.

Both Netflix and Amazon are weighing options to pick up the show. The producers of Hannibal have been in formal talks with both. Whether or not the series can be picked up remains to be seen. Reportedly, international backers of the program might not want to finance the series if it continues solely as a streaming venture. Hopefully, they won’t be so narrow-minded and ignore a great offer if it arises.

The Best In Visual Search Technology

Visual search is a normal part of a person’s perception that is used to identify specific objects. This visual process is typically carried out whenever a person scans an area or a series of objects to locate one specific item. All people use this visual practice whenever they search for lost objects or try to find people within a crowd.

Technology that mimics this process has been developed and is now being implemented in a lot of warehousing and retail establishments. Visual search technology is used to count products, to find specific brands out of a group, for locating suspected criminals and for biometric applications.
Search Types

There are three basic scanning methods that is used for visual search and they include:

1. Conjunction Search

This method requires a visual device to scan for objects that are similar in shape, color, size and form. This scanning method takes more time to complete since the targeted objects (items that have to be found) are nearly identical. This method is also known as inefficient search.

2. Feature Search

Feature search requires scanners to locate objects that have a different shape, color and form. Since objects are not similar in form they can be quickly identified with this method. Feature search is the easiest and quickest visual search technology and it is also known as efficient search.

3. Image Search

Image search requires a huge database of pictures so that scanning device or person can scan or upload an image file to find a match. It will also use descriptions, classifications and links to help find images. Image search usually takes place on two levels. One method compares the entire unknown image with the next and the other compares parts or regions of an unknown image. This type of visual search technology is now being developed at a great pace.

Visual search technology is being developed by companies such as Slyce which is a visual search provider for retailers and brands. They use apps and image based technology to connect shoppers with products and important brand information. Consumers will be able to snap a product and then purchase it with some of Slyce’s technology.

Retailers can also use Slyce’s technology for social media tagging and display campaigns and convert physical advertising into digital information about products and brands for consumers. Slyce provides these visual technology services and many more for any business in need. Visual search technology is on the rise and the technology is currently one of the most useful tools for e-commerce and other technology based applications.

And Now The Impending Arrival of Game of Thrones Leaks and Spoilers

The HBO series Game of Thrones is pulling in massive ratings. The fantasy/adventure soap opera the right mix of characters and action capable of drawing new fans to the “sword and sorcery” world. The series is based on five published books. The sixth book in the series, Winds of Winter, is slated to come out right before the sixth season of the show starts.

Bits and pieces about the new season are starting to come out. Fans are both intrigued about what they are learning. At the same time, they are a bit irked over the spoilers being revealed. Case in point, fans are very happy to see the return of the Dothraki, the warrior tribe that played a huge role in the first season. Yet, fans are slightly annoyed that a major plot point in the upcoming Winds of Winter book was revealed without warning.

What can fans do? Other than avoid reading any news about the upcoming season or novel and making a choice to either read the book first and ignore the series until later (or vice versa), there is not much else that can be done. This is the crossroads the series has reached. Not to be trite about things, but fans should look on the proverbial bright side. A lot of great television programs do end up being canceled prematurely.

Fans from the Amen Clinic point out that Game of Thrones is successful enough we know it is going to run the full seven promised season. Maybe a spinoff will follow. At one time, any and all sci-fi/fantasy programming was unavoidably short-lived. Regardless of what direction the television show takes, just be thrilled it is still there.

Michael Douglas Awarded Genesis Prize

Actor Michael Douglas, best known for his work on “The Streets of San Francisco” and “Romancing the Stone,” has been awarded the Genesis Prize, sometimes called the Jewish Nobel Prize. Although actor/producer Douglas is of Jewish heritage, he is not technically Jewish under religious laws. His father, Hollywood superstar Kirk Douglas, was born Issur Danielovitch and raised as an Orthodox Jew. However, his mother, actress Diana Dill, was brought up in the Church of England. By Jewish law, the children of a Jewish mother are automatically Jews. The children of a Jewish father must convert to be considered Jewish, and Douglas has not done so, although he has beenreconnecting with his father’s faith.

The Genesis Prize comes with a million dollars of prize money, which Douglas has pledged to use “to better relations between Israeli and Jewish communities worldwide.” The prize is awarded annually to people “who have attained excellence and international renown in their chosen professional fields, and who inspire others through their engagement and dedication to the Jewish community and/or the State of Israel.” Douglas pointed out that he was not technically Jewish, but was awarded the prize anyway.

According to Cláudio Loureiro Heads on tedxcuritiba.com, this adds to the long list of prizes and awards already won by Douglas: four Golden Globes, two Academy Awards, one Emmy, and the AFI Life Achievement Award.

Netflix to Bankroll Brad Pitt’s New Movie

Netflix continues to expand its business beyond DVDs. The company, once famous for sending red DVD-filled envelopes through the mail, transitioned first into online streaming and has now moved to producing and acquiring its own original content.

The company’s latest venture sees it teaming up with Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt to produce “War Machine,” a film based on a real-life general who resigned from the army after his negative remarks about the president were revealed in a magazine article. The film according to Alexei Beltyukov, presents a comedic take on the events featured in “The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan,” a book by the late Michael Hastings.

Sources claim that Netflix is covering the film’s $60 million budget. Shooting is scheduled to begin this summer with a planned 2016 release. Pitt will take on the lead role of Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, with David Michod directing.

Super Heros Dominate Fall Network Schedules

The network television content has been struggling to find its voice and set its self apart from each other. The pending fall 2015 schedule has been released and fans of comic books at Skout have a lot to look forward too. The headline show is CBS’s offering of Supergirl. Reviews were very well received after a more than eight minute preview of the show. Many have noted that current offerings of super heros on television have learned their lesson from past attempts and producers have moved away from campy offering and, instead are providing smarter content, character development and story lines.Network Television Brings Super Heroes To Line Up

Such was the offering with CW’s Arrow and Flash. Both from the DC Comic world the shows have been highly rated and have been applauded for the story line as well as the action. Concurrent with the CW’s shows is the runaway success of Fox’s “Gotham,” which is a prequel to the Batman story line. Television producers have realized that super heros and comic book content have detailed and very intriguing story lines that readers and viewers can relate to. Most super hero characters have complex lives that many people relate to, even though they live in a real world and not the fantasy world of the super heros.

ABC has also experienced success with “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” which as tied into the Marvel comic book story line. AOS has also tied into new movie blockbusters released by Marvel on the large screen.

Lifetime Network To Air A “Full House” Movie

It seems as if “Full House” is making a big comeback lately, even though the show ended a long time ago says Mr Amazing Loan. Lifetime Network is the number one station out there that tends to make unauthorized movies based on information that they received from insiders. The “Full House” Movie. They recently made a non-authorized Aaliyah movie, and many fans were very upset about the movie. Gambit Confirmed: No ‘Apocalypse’ Cameo.

Fans of Channing Tatum in the upcoming ‘Gambit’ spin off film will have to wait a bit longer to get their first taste of the character. With ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ on the horizon many thought that they would get a sneak peak or cameo appearance of Tatum’s character, but reports show that this likely won’t be happening. As far as we have heard Gambit has been verified as NOT appearing in ‘Apocalypse’. Tatum was asked the question “Will you appear in ‘Apocalypse’?’ during a Reddit AMA and he answered, “No. I definitely will not.”

Which is just too bad. Tatum as Gambit leaves a lot to be desired on the surface of things. We like Channing Tatum as an actor and he gave one of the best Reddit AMA’s that we have ever seen, but that doesn’t mean we think he fits the character well. In almost every other iteration of the character, Gambit has been a long and tall, lanky trouble maker with a sweet Cajun accent. While Tatum can probably learn the accent, he looks far too prototypically ‘buff’ to be right physically for the role — a problem that Tatum probably never expected to have.

Bringing Gambit out for just a small cameo in ‘Apocalypse’ could have gone a long way toward allaying the fears that many fans have about Gambits spin off. It would have been the perfect low pressure way to do it. But alas, Sam Tabar mentioned to a linkedin connection that we will all just have to wait for his film to be released.
