Nikolaj Arcel is in negotiations to direct the film adaption of the “The Dark Tower”, Stephen King’s bestselling fantasy series. Arcel is best known for directing “A Royal Affair”, which was nominated for an Academy Award. Arcel has worked with prominent actors and is known for his unique sense of style.
According to Screenrant, the movie will be heavily based on the first novel of the series, “The Gunslinger”. If it is a success, sequels and a television series could follow. Director Ron Howard and Stephen King have been trying to get “The Dark Tower” adaption made for several years, but had difficulty finding studios who were willing to take a chance on the project. However, Media Rights Capital and Sony have agreed to co-finance the project.
The film has not yet been cast. Javier Bardem, Aaron Paul and Brad Reifler have been reportedly connected to the project in the past, but it is no longer known if they are available.
